One of the top music festivals in the United States is the Voodoo Experience. This festival takes place every year on the weekend before Halloween in New Orleans. It is famous for its amazing variety of artists and for all sorts of local musicians.

The Voodoo Experience started out in 1999 and has grown to an amazing size. The festival occurs over the course of three days on the weekend before Halloween. Over the years the festival has grown from just a couple of stages over the course of a day to a full festival that attracts tens of thousands of people every year.

Every year this festival is held at the City Park. This is an area of the city that features more than a thousand acres of recreational sites and activities including the New Orleans Botanical Garden.

The setup for this festival is unique when compared to other music festivals. The festival has various tents that are split up for a variety of different musicians. There is a tent for local artists, a tend for mainstream artists and one for smaller acts. There are even sections for circus acts and various burlesque acts. There is even a bingo hall at the festival.

Over the years there have been all sorts of different big name acts playing at the Voodoo Experience. Rock acts like the Smashing Pumpkins, Duran Duran, Nine Inch Nails and Green Day have played. Hip hop acts like Eminem, Cypress Hill, Wu Tang Clan and M.I.A. have played. Other genres, including jazz and electronic, are also popular here.

Various local acts from New Orleans have played here too. Among these acts that have played include Dr. John, Cowboy Mouth and Trombone Shorty. Many popular New Orleans jazz and brass band groups have played here and can be found throughout the festival.

The upcoming 2008 edition of the Voodoo Experience is expected to be the biggest of them all. The festival will be held from October 24-26.
